Saarland’s steel industry participates in the Graduate Congress in Cologne for the first time

22 November 2011

Dillinger Hütte and Saarstahl present themselves together at a shared stand

On 30 November and 1 December, the “Graduate Congress” is taking place in Cologne. Since 1989, it has belonged to those events which set the direction where the future career paths of students, graduates and young professionals are concerned. Among the exhibitors taking part in the congress for the first time this year are Dillinger Hütte and Saarstahl, two leading international companies with their headquarters in the Saarland.

“We use the fair as a platform to present young professionals with information on possibilities for joining us and developing themselves within our company.” explains Peter Schweda, the member of the Management Board responsible for Labour at Dillinger Hütte and Saarstahl. “In addition, we would also like to take the opportunity in Cologne to highlight the innovative power of our branch as a whole. Modern steel applications form the basis for leading technologies in the future whether in sustainable energy generation or in competitive automobile manufacturing. The steel industry creates the basis for technical advances and therefore guarantees exciting challenges for university graduates.”

At the fair, the two steel companies are offering specialist positions for metallurgists, material scientists, mechanical engineers and mechatronic engineers. However, there are also opportunities for economists and computer scientists. Furthermore, the Saarlandish steel partners are providing information about cooperative courses of study, support during doctoral theses, bachelor and masters theses as well as about internships. Visitors to the fair can receive a detailed insight into career possibilities at Dillinger Hütte and Saarstahl at stands I / 11 in the “Technology Area” in hall 8.
